Facebook is online social networking. It was founded in February 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with his college friends at Harvard University.Facebook was further added to Stanford university.It allow user who are 13 years or elder than that to register under this site. once you have created your account on Facebook

you may create a personal profile, add anyone as your friend you can also chat with others and you can also receive automatic notifications. Facebook is no 1 social network and on September 2012 Facebook has over one billion active users out of which 8.7% are fake users. in may 2011 there are 7.5 million children under 13 and 5 million under 10 who are using there Facebook accounts.

REVENUE FROM FACEBOOK:

Most of the Facebook revenue comes from advertising. As comparing to the major websites Facebook has lower CTR rates. When Facebook users click on advertisement an average is of 0.04%  of the time and when users click on Google advertisement an average is of 8% of the time. If we compare My space with Facebook it has 2.5% better rates than Facebook that is 0.1% but as compare to other website it is very low. Facebook has low rate of ctr and because of this users usually ignore the advertisement on Facebook and they use Facebook for just chatting purpose.

on November 15 2010 Facebook had acquired its own domain name  fb.com from the American Farm Bureau Federation but they didn't tell the amount of that domain. On 11 January 2011 the farm bureau disclosed the amount that is $8.5 million in domain sale income.

USER PROFILE OF FACEBOOK:

In Facebook user can create profile with there photos, his personal interest,contact information and his other personal details. Facebook has chat feature through which user can privately chat  with each other and they can also create pages or like pages which is use for  advertising. On June 2013 Facebook introduced a usernames feature other than that many new smart phones offers to access to Facebook through there web browser or applications.

more than 425 million active users access Facebook through there smart phones across 200 mobile operators in 80 countries.

FACEBOOK COMPARISON WITH MYSPACE:

Many people compare Facebook with Myspace so the major difference is the level of customization another

major difference is that Facebook require users true identity for signup process but Myspace didn't want. Myspace allow users to decorate their profile with other widgets and html while Facebook only allow users to decorate it with plain text it shows that Facebook have simplicity. Facebook has number of features through which users can get attract like any user of Facebook can view the profile of any other user if their is no privacy in their account it also gives an opportunity to poke each other( a notification will come after that user will be told that he have been poked).users can upload photos and albums or video in Facebook. My space is much better than Facebook for just ctr purpose.

VIDEO AND VOICE CALLING:

In April 2011 Facebook launches its voice call system through which users can call over the world from anywhere using the Facebook chat if user is offline voice message service is also available on Facebook.On 6th July 2011 Facebook launched its video calling service  using Skype as its technology partner.

PRIVACY FOR FACEBOOK:

Users are to concerned about the privacy for their Facebook account because their are many account which was hacked by the hackers and they misuse it so regarding this purpose Facebook enables user to choose their own privacy settings. Facebook requires a user name and profile picture to be accessible by everyone.

SOCIAL IMPACT OF FACEBOOK:

Facebook has seriously affected the social life it not only affect the social life but it make life change too, like

as Facebook is available in many mobile devices which allow users to continuously stay connected with friends or relatives wherever they are in the world. It also unite people together like when many users likes the same page or having common interest. therefore there are many people who are saying that Facebook is not beneficial because youth are destroying they don't give time to there studies other than that they are continuously chatting with there friends on Facebook. 2nd most important reason is that antisocial tendencies increased because people are not directly communicating with each other.
