WHAT IS SKYPE AND WHAT ITS HISTORY

INFORMATION ON SKYPE:

Skype was originate in 2003 by Janus Friis and Niklas Zenstorm  from Denmark and Sweden respectively. The Skype software was developed by the Estonians Athi Heinla, Pritt Kasesalu and Jann Tallinn. Friss and Niklas Zenstorm were also behind the development of the software Kazza. In August 2003, the first public beta version was released.

Skype is a proprietary voice-over-IP service and software application developed by the Skype team its sister product was also launched by the Skype team at the same time  that is Microsoft Lync which is fix on a large business. Skype is the best software for chatting and video calling its service allow users to communicate with others through microphone or webcam. Skype to Skype video and audio calling and chatting service is free on Skype but calling to land line numbers are not free for this we have to buy Skype credits which are available at different rates depending on your country.Skype has also become famous for its file transferring and video conference call.

Some network administrators have forbid Skype on corporate, education, network , home and government , the main reason for this prohibit is inappropriate usage of resources and for security concerns.

On 1st September 2009 it was announced that eBay was selling 65% of Skype for 1.9 billion dollars and at that time its worth is 2.75 billion dollars.

On 10 may 2011 Microsoft corporation obtain Skype communications for US$8.5 billion.

FEATURES OF SKYPE:

All those users who are registered on Skype are added to the Skype directory with and they are identified by a unique Skype name selected by a user, himself . Skype allow all registered users to communicate with users whom they know they can communicate by instant messaging service of Skype or they can also communicate through voice chat. Voice chat allows telephone calls between pair of users and conference calling. Skype chat also allow users to do group chat, emoticons  or they may edit or keep the history of the chat. The users can also send offline message but is it is not seen by other user with in a week it was automatically deleted without any notification. Skype also allow users to receive local phone call on their PC but this service was only available in the following countries Australia, Belgium .Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hongkong, Hungary, Ireland, japan, mexico, Nepal, Newzeland, Poland, Romania, South Africa, South Korea, sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, nether land, united kingdom, and the United States of America.

Skype supports conference call up to 25 people at one time. Skype also gives an opportunity to do video chat between two people for free but Skype don't provide emergency calling system like call to police or call to fire brigade e.t.c. Free video messaging was launched by Skype on 14 July 2011  which can be operated on windows, Mac blackberry and android.
